ATO correspondence

We use ATO SmartDoc to securely encrypt and deliver ATO correspondence.

We aren’t allowed to email you documents with your TFN on display, we either need to redact it or encrypt messages. We’ve opted for the latter.

If you’re lucky enough to be on the ATO’s mailing list, you’ll receive an email from us letting you know you have ATO mail to view. You’ll also receive a text message to your mobile with a PIN.

Following the prompts in the email will get you to your document, but you won’t be able to view it, until you key in your PIN.
